In 1914 in Germany, Sweden and Russia it is commemorated for the first time, officially.
It has been celebrated in China since 1922.
In Spain it was celebrated for the first time in 1936.
In 1975, the UN began to celebrate March 8 as International Women's Day.
In 1977 the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN) proclaimed March 8 as the International Day for Women's Rights and International Peace.
In 2011, the Centenary of International Women's Day was celebrated.
